The Prince Who Fell In Love

Author/Artist: Shimaki Ako
Total: 1 Volume
Year: 1999
Genre: Drama, Romance and Shoujo
Scanlator: ShoujoMagic

Description:
Collection of short stories:

• Koi ni Ochita Oujisama (The Prince Who Fell In Love)
"Just thinking about it makes me want to cry. Do you know the kind of love I'm talking about?" Shiho lives next door to a prince. Toshiki-sama is the heir of a Noh music master. They shouldn't have been anything more than childhood friends, but...

• Cinderella no Tegami (Cinderella's Letter)
Mashita has always been annoyed by one particular guy, in all her years of going to one school, and it just so happens he's the only person she knows in her new class.

• Busu (The Ugly One)
Maki got a little arrogant, thanks to her looks when she was a child, and her confidence takes a downhill ride when Hideo-kun, her crush, calls her ugly due to peer pressure.

• Iroha ni Hoheto (Old Way of Reading the Japanese Alphabet)
Kiyomi goes to her childhood friend; Atsushi, for love advice; whose face she says she's gotten sick of.

• Pizzicato
A girl who has no talent, Miki, has a crush on an up and coming violinist who attends her school, and thinks it's a waste of time to tell him her feelings, since she might be moving soon.

My Opinion:
Although each of the stories were short, the author did a good job on developing the characters. It's not too bad but not the best. Still, it has its own charm.

Chupa!

Author/Artist: Ueda Rinko
Total: Oneshot
Year: 2001
Genre: Romance, Shoujo
Scanlator: Ephemeral-Dreams(inactive)

Discription:
This is a very cute story about Hitomi, an elementary school student who's always mistaken as being older when she's only a fifth grader. She falls innocently in love with a highschool guy working at a pet shop, Takeru, and tries to pass off as an adult so he can fall in love with her...but of course, nothing goes as planned! ^o^

My opinion:
I absolutely loved it. The art is awesome, the characters are cute, and you people with dirty minds all they did was kiss nothing more, so NO it's not lollicon ;)

Tokyo Mew Mew A La Mode

Author/Artist: Ikumi Mia
Total: 2 Volumes
Year: 2003
Genre: Comedy, Romance, Sci-fi and Shoujo
Scanlator: Bloome Scans
Sequel: Tokyo Mew Mew

Discription:
From Tokyopop:
With Mew Ichigo studying abroad in London, the remaining four girls from Cafe Mew Mew are one too few. Luckily, a new Mew is about to emerge. Berry just transferred to a different junior high because she thought their school outfits were cute.

Little does she know she's about to become the first Mew Mew with TWO sets of animal genes in her blood. Half cat, half rabbit, she's joining the Mew Mew team just in time. A new gang calling itself the Crusaders has appeared, and its leader just happens to love wild game like rabbit - well done and served for his dinner!

When Mew Ichigo returns from London she's going to be very, very surprised!

My opinion:
The only thing I liked here was that there was a cuter couple and the pairing was better than in the first series. This continuation is even more cliché than Tokyo Mew Mew. And the aliens aren't in this one, which is kind of disappointing. But the artwork is still nice.

Tokyo Mew Mew

Author/Artist: Yoshida Reiko
Total: 7 Volumes
Year: 2000
Genre: Comedy, Romance, Sci-fi, Shoujo.
Scanlator: Bloome Scans
The anime is based upon this manga.

Discription:
By me.
Ichigo is finally out on a date with her crush when she's suddenly involved in an odd incident in which her DNA is merged with the DNA of an almost extinct wild cat. When four other girls' DNA is merged with the DNA of four other almost extinct animals, it's apparent that they're part of a much bigger plan. Ichigo and her friends have been chosen to become a part of a secret project called the "Mew Project." Their mission: To protect the planet from aliens who are using the planet's animals to attack humans.

My opinion:
Yes, it's a cute style of drawing, but the story has a very clear outline and is calculable. It's only an old magical-girl cliché. But if you like storys like the mangas in Nakayoshi (Mermaid Melody-Pitchi Pitchi Pitch; Sailor Moon etc.) it's a recommend.
